main imageSince 1989, the International Association of Black Professionals in International Affairs (BPIA) has succeeded in encouraging people of color to participate more fuly in the international community and in preparing consituents for leadership roles in world affairs. BPIA has also been instrumental in broadening the perspective of organizations engaged in international affairs, particularly in relation to the concerns, experiences and contributions of people of color.

The stark under-representation of minorities, especially African Americans, deprives the United States of a range of perspectives, inputs, and human resources to draw upon in meeting the challenges of the 21st century. Accordingly, BPIA will continue to respond to the country's changing security, intelligence, foreign policy, educational and commercial needs by increasing the involvement of African Americans and other people of color in international affairs, preparing them for leadership roles in world affairs, encouraging their participation more fully in the global community and supporting public and private sector organizations with international and multicultural dimensions.

International mentors Program

The Mentors Forum is designed to provide opportunities for students, graduate scholars and young professionals to meet informally with senior professionals and experienced career internationalists. During these sessions career options and current international issues are discussed in small group settings at the homes of mentors or at pubic sites. Participants have a valuable opportunity to share and learn from leaders who represent a variety of disciplines. BPIA counts among its mentors:
One of the missions of BPIA is to contribute to global understanding of world issues. Through the Foreign Policy Forums, held periodically throughout the year, BPIA explores issues and current events in a simulating dialogue with experts in the field.
