Membership information
BPIA is an educational, 501 (c) 3 charitable, non-profit membership association founded in 1989 to increase the involvement of African Americans and other people of African heritage in international affairs. BPIA fulfills it objectives in education, cultural exchange, economic development, and professional development through public education forums and conferences, referrals, a newsletter, networking and outreach activities, and award of grants and scholarships.
As benefits of membership, current members:
remain on BPIA’s active mailing list
receive free subscription to Global Visions newsletter
contribute financially to international education initiatives through BPIA grants and scholarships
contribute to operating expenses of the association
benefit from employment and consultancy referrals enjoy
networking opportunities with diverse groups of internationalists
receive a reduced BPIA conference registration rate
receive complimentary admission to special events as available
expand recruitment goals of member agencies and organizations
vote at the annual meeting.
Membership is open to individuals of all races, nationalities, religions and cultural identities, and to organizations that support BPIA’s objectives. Current BPIA members include employees of government agencies, non-governmental organizations, international organizations, colleges and universities, private businesses, private voluntary organizations, and humanitarian relief agencies. Retired professionals are welcome, and are encouraged to lend their considerable knowledge and skills to BPIA’s programs. Dues paid are fully deductible for Federal/State income tax purpose.
